One of my favorite plug-ins is called Wordfence and what’s unique about this plug-in is that it will send you an email anytime you need to update a plug-in, theme, or WordPress version. One of the biggest reasons that people get hacked is because they fail to keep their WordPress website updated.

I would say over 90% of the people that get hacked is because they don’t keep their website updated. It’s vital to have something in place to notify you when you need to update certain aspects of your website. There is also a variety of plug-ins that will keep your website updated automatically that are available in the WordPress plug-ins downloads area. Personally I believe in updating plug-ins manually one by one just so there is no issues.

Now let’s talk about some plug-ins that will remove malware. Wordfence in my opinion is not the best for malware removal. They do have some interesting features that I mentioned before that will protect you from getting malware but I don’t think that they are the best at actually removing malware. They have a paid version available that will let you block specific countries by the ip address which is a very good feature since many of the hackers out there or from foreign countries.

Another plug-in that I really like is called got MLS. They are pretty good at removing malware and finding back doors that give the hackers access back into your website. They also have a paid version really that is more like you have to make a donation and that will unlock additional features. I believe the donation is $25.
