Step one: You have to remove the malware. They will never let you back online if you still have malware present on your website. We can’t use any scanners in this situation because your website is down. All work will have to be done via FTP or the cpanel. If you request your hosting may give you a list of the malicious files. Once you remove them and your site is clean they will put your websites back online.
Step two: Now that you website is back online you need to harden it so they hackers don’t come back. Hackers are very smart and they know how to hide well. So you need to make sure you get all of the backdoors they leave or you will find yourself hacked again. Then update everything from plugins, themes, and new WordPress version. Don’t just update actually reinstall WordPress from files you downloaded at Wordpess.org. We do that to make sure that all core files are replaced.
Step 3: Remove your blacklist. Many times hacked websites get blacklisted by Google. You can see this in two ways. One you will see a red screen pop up and it will say the “site ahead contains malware” and or you will see under your listing in Google “This site may be hacked”. You need to remove this warning if you want your visitors to take your website seriously. You need to login to Google webmaster tools and under security request that the malware warning be removed. Google will ask you what you have done. So tell them you removed the malware and harden your site. They will rescan it again and if its clean they will remove the warnings if its not clean they will let you know.
